Mike Ciskowski

Kansas, Cowley County, Oxford Mill
The Oxford Mill, $89 27x21

Although Mike is no longer an active member of Gallery 1001, he and his photography have been an integral part of the Gallery and we'd like to keep it that way. Mike still helps us out by contributing new works and by pitching to work an occasional shift if needed.  There are so many things that can be said  about Mike Ciskowski's photography. The beauty of his imagery is reminiscent of sine if the great photographers of the past. For over fifty years Mike has photographed portraits, weddings, reunions, and sport's teams. After retiring from public service, Mike's love of photography provided him with the desire to apply the skills that he had learned to a new level. Switching from studio and event photography, Mike set out to photograph his surroundings. The inherent beauty of a Kansas sunset down an old dirt road, a field of sunflowers, the landscapes that capture the true beauty of this town, this state, this world in world where where we live. From the calming pastoral scenes to manmade beauty of architecture. Capturing candid shots of people engaged in everyday activities to old barns on long abandoned farms. With a special weakness for stone arch bridges and waterfalls, we are sure that you will find Mike's photography as beautiful as we do.

“I never know in advance what I will photograph, … I go out into the world and hope I will come across something that imperatively interests me. I am addicted to the found object. I have no doubt that I will continue to make photographs till my last breath.” – Ansel Adams
